Day 1 In the Books!

Day 1 In the Books!

Since Coyote Mint Company is based in Oregon, I get the special privilege of getting an early peek at the end of the day. Today was the result of a lot fo work, stress, and steep learning curves. For two people who have zero computer background, learning how to navigate new websites with social media while trying to create product and still pay the bills was an overwhelming task. But we did it- Kayla absolutely rocked getting the website together while i made spreadsheet after spreadsheet for orders. We set small, manageable goals, and worked our not-so-little butts off to make it happen- and it did!

As a social worker by trade, I understand the importance of setting goals and creating realistic expectations. I also understand how often Midwest humility and Impostor Syndrome combine with gender bias in the business world to create a system that teaches women to constantly underestimate themselves and undersell their skills. We created this business for ourselves first- to be able to indulge our craft hobby (or obsession, whatever) while creating beautiful things for our friends and family. But we also create with the intent to spread the idea of love, acceptance, and positivity to others. A lot of people think positivity is blind happiness, a constant smile no matter what happens. But real positivity is seeing every challenge as an opportunity, and finding the humor in making mistakes- not taking anything too seriously except the idea that everyone deserves to be treated as equal humans.

This shop and our handmade pieces are just the little ways that we make the world a slightly better place- and we hope that you will enjoy them as much!
